SWSA Septic to Sewer Project Information

The OUA is expanding its public wastewater collection system to minimize phosphorus loading in Lake Okeechobee due to onsite septic tanks.  One of the areas in need of public watewater collection  is the Southwest Section service area, icluding the community of Oak Park. The area is geographically locates at low and flat elevation making it prone to flooding during sustained rain events.  Flooding can prevent septic drain fields from operationg as designed or operationg at all.  A centralized system is necessary to handle flood events, improve water quality and remove potential public health risks.

The project consists of three phases:

Phase 1: Master Pump Station, Master Force Main and SE2 Diversion Force Main

Phase 2: Vacuum Collection System and construction of two Vacuum Stations

Phase 3: Okee-Tantie Force Main - Under Design
